After attending last week’s Town Meeting in Harvard I left with a feeling of gratitude and appreciation for our residents. I was inspired by the people who stood up and said that in spite of their own financial interests they were voting to adopt the Stretch Energy Code here in Harvard because they were voting on behalf of our children and the future of our planet. During the weeks before the Town Meeting I was discouraged to read so many seemingly negative letters that focused on individual rights and pointed fingers at a select few who wanted to take them away. I hope in moving forward we can put the animosity behind us and work together in making Harvard a model of energy efficiency, a model where our differences are respected, but where we are united in a common desire to leave the world a better place.
