Schools to go green
The School Committee voted to apply for a state “Green Schools” grant, money that could be used to install more energy-efficient windows at the Hildreth Elementary School. The grant program targets improvements in school windows, roofs, or boilers. The application process also requires a favorable vote from the Board of Selectmen. According to Superintendent Thomas Jefferson, Harvard stands about midway on the state priority list for such a grant. While he admitted that he was not optimistic about the town’s chances of receiving the funds, he concluded, “We might as well be in line in case there is money to pass out.”
