At 9:51 a.m. the ambulance transported a man from a Park Lane residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. A caller reported at 1:39 p.m. that a tractor-trailer truck had accidentally pulled down some wires on Willow Road. Police notified Verizon.
Wednesday, June 23
At 10:44 a.m. a caller reported that two people were laying vehicle-counter cables on Ayer Road, something he thought was a hazard. The people were gone when police arrived. Ayer police requested the assistance of Harvard police at a motor vehicle stop they made 150 feet over the town line, into Harvard. At noon an arrest warrant was issued for a New Hampshire man in connection with two recent break-ins on Depot and Slough roads. The man is also a suspect in a break-in on East Bare Hill Road. According to Detective Jack Izzo, more warrants are expected to be issued. At 10:16 p.m. firefighters were called to a Barton Road residence in response to a smoke alarm. When they arrived they could find no apparent cause for the alarm, and determined that the detector was faulty.
Thursday, June 24
At 6:27 a.m. someone called to complain about the sound of construction work in the area of Barton and West Bare Hill roads starting around 6 a.m. Police found no sign of construction work in the area and did not find the source of the noise. At 7:48 a.m. a caller asked to speak with an officer regarding a dispute between a landscaper and a homeowner. A Woodchuck Hill Road resident called at 11:12 a.m. to report that there may have been an unauthorized person in a neighbor’s house. Police went to the house in question and found the homeowner and her son there. At 3:24 p.m. a caller reported seeing a man lying on the porch of a house in Still River. Police found it was a salesperson who said he’d felt overcome by the heat and was lying down to cool off. He went on his way. At 8:50 p.m. a caller reported seeing a red sedan swerving and otherwise being driven erratically on Ayer Road. From the plate number provided, police determined that the vehicle was a rental car. It was not located.
Friday, June 25
A Madigan Lane resident reported at 8:23 a.m. that a black GMC vehicle had pulled up his driveway and then left. Police checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. At 11:33 a.m. a West Bare Hill Road resident reported seeing a suspicious-looking car in the area. Police did not locate the vehicle. A Blanchard Road resident called at 12:22 p.m. to report concerns about some loud yelling and swearing heard in the area. Police determined that the source of the ruckus was a neighbor who was outside having a heated cell-phone conversation with his son. At 1:01 p.m. someone reported that several items had been stolen from cars parked along East Bare Hill Road. The case is under investigation. Someone stopped at the station at 3:39 p.m. to speak with an officer regarding a complaint about a motorist. An officer on patrol at 9:07 p.m. noticed a group of people at the town beach and asked them to leave, since the beach closes at dusk.
Saturday, June 26
At 8:03 a.m. someone reported that eight street signs were missing from their posts. The estimated value of the signs is about $800, according to Detective Izzo. The case is under investigation.
Sunday, June 27
The ambulance transported a man to Emerson Hospital from a Trail Ridge Way residence at 1:56 a.m. At 12:29 p.m. a caller reported that there were two unfamiliar cars parked in the driveway of a nearby vacant house. Police determined that the cars belonged to the owner and a contractor.
Monday, June 28
Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard police at 2:58 a.m. in responding to two simultaneous police calls in Boxborough. A caller reported at 11:45 a.m. that a commercial truck had pulled down some telephone wires on Mass. Ave. Verizon was notified. At 1:24 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident reported that a man had come to the door looking for work and had subsequently left, heading for a neighbor’s. Police located the man, who was a door-to-door salesman, and asked him to move on. A man stopped at the station at 3:46 p.m. to report that someone had vandalized his car by denting it on both sides. The case is under investigation.
