Wins girls 400M at Central Mass District Track Meet
The 400-meter dash is an all-out sprint effort and Mimi Narbonne was in fourth position after 300 yards at the May 29 Central Mass District Track Meet, but put on a tremendous finish to win the event with a time of 57.26, one of the fastest times in the commonwealth this year. Narbonne now qualifies to compete in the All-State Championships Saturday, June 5, in Westfield.
Also running the 400-meter were Kim West and Margaret Kibbler, who finished eighth and 11th, respectively.
Bromfield scorers at the meet included Sydney Durand, who was sixth in the one mile. Durand teamed up with Narbonne, West, and Kibbler to place third in the 4×400-meter relay, turning the distance in 4:03.74 behind Algonquin and Wachusett Regional. The 4×400 team also qualified to run at Saturday’s state championship meet. Their time was the fastest the foursome has run so far this season.
The 4×800-meter relay team of Sophia Collins, Maddie Beckman, Caroline Mazola and Emma Rothkopf finished sixth, with a time of 10:19.14.
Moriah Arnold made the finals in the 100-meter high hurdles and finished eighth in the competition.
Alyssa Johnson placed 14th in the 200-meter dash. Johnson and Arnold teamed up with Heather Flokos and Emma Hall to finish ninth in the 4×100 relay, running a season best for Bromfield in 52.26.
The Bromfield team placed 13th in the meet, scoring 18 points during the afternoon competition.
