Mimi Narbonne finished second in the 400-meter dash championship race at Saturday’s MIAA All State Championships. Her time of 56.80 was a new Bromfield record for the distance, breaking an 8-year-old mark of 58.28 set by Ari Lambie in 2002.
In the final event of the day, Narbonne joined juniors Kim West, Margaret Kibbler, and Sydney Durand in a closely fought battle to a third-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay, with a new school record of 3:56.56. The race featured each relay member running a personal record for the distance, with the team knocking 7 seconds off their best effort prior to the championship race.
“Mimi finished the race with a spectacular kick, passing at least four runners in the last few yards to bring the team to the new school record,” said Coach Ray Dunn. “The girls were hoping to dip under 4:00 minutes in the championship race and they crushed that goal, running a 3:56 in a sensational team effort.”
