Last week, during spring break, ninth-grader Moriah Arnold and her fourth-grade brother, Max Vanderwerf, brought much-needed school supplies to Los Niños de Leonardo y Meredith School in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.
Started by Ann Post and Philip Jordan of Boston, the elementary school provides uniforms, school supplies, six hours of classroom instruction, and two meals per day at no charge for 17 students.
While visiting the two-room schoolhouse, Moriah (a Spanish student of Señora Castro Castellanos of Bromfield) introduced her family to the students and read a book in Spanish, followed by a teacher-led question-and-answer session.
