At 11:33 a.m. a Brown Road resident reported that there was a blue vehicle parked on the side of the road. Responding officers found it belonged to a relative of a neighbor. A caller reported at 4:13 p.m. that a car was parked at the elementary school with a woman in it who was either sleeping or passed out. Police located the car, but there was no one in it. At 4:30 p.m. a caller on Ayer Road reported hearing gunshots. Police checked the area, but found nothing. A car slid into a utility pole on Bolton Road at 5:06 p.m. There were no injuries; no tow was required.
Wednesday, December 30
The ambulance transported a man to Emerson Hospital from a Pinnacle Road home at 1:20 p.m. At 5:47 p.m. police stopped a car on Ayer Road for going through a stop sign and issued the driver a summons for that offense and for driving with revoked insurance. Firefighters responded to an alarm at a residence on Lancaster County Road and discovered a possible electrical issue, although there was no fire. The owner was advised to call an electrician for service. The drivers of two trucks parked in a dangerous location in the center of town were advised to move them at 10:56 p.m.
Thursday, December 31
At 11:06 a.m. a man stopped at the station to discuss a motor vehicle stop. ADT Security notified fire officers about an alarm activation on Still River Road. Fire personnel responded to the address provided, but the homeowner said she did not own an ADT alarm system. The owner of a plowing company reported at 5:03 p.m. that while plowing, his drivers had seen someone repeatedly trying to gain entrance to a professional building on Lancaster County Road. Police checked the area but found no one. A South Shaker Road resident reported at 5:21 p.m. that a young boy had stopped at his house and said he was lost. The child had gotten separated from his family and their friends during a New Year’s Eve walk in the Holy Hill area. Police helped the caller locate the child’s parents. A caller on Littleton Road reported hearing a fire alarm and seeing smoke at a neighbor’s house. Firefighters found and extinguished a fire in the home’s boiler motor and ventilated the building.
Friday, January 1
At 7:03 a.m. police stopped a car for speeding and arrested Rachel C. Castagnino, 20, of Maynard for operating under the influence. A man stopped at the station at 10:44 a.m. to complain about receiving annoying phone calls from a telemarketer. He was advised to call the company for whom the caller worked. A Littleton County Road resident called at 11:22 a.m. to report seeing a sickly coyote walking about her property. The animal control office was notified. The ambulance transported a man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a Littleton Road residence at 1:44 p.m. At 2:58 p.m. a caller reported seeing a speeding car being driven recklessly near Old Littleton Road and Cross Street. Police did not locate the vehicle. At 5:02 p.m. a caller reported a collision between his car and a deer. There was no damage to the car; the deer ran off.
Saturday, Janaury 2
At 5:58 a.m. a caller reported an accident between his car and a deer; the deer left the scene. A woman was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a Littleton Road residence at 7:18 a.m. Boxborough police called at 9:20 a.m. to advise Harvard police to watch for a car that had left the scene of an accident in Boxborough. Police did not locate the vehicle. At 9:55 a.m. a plow operator for the Department of Public Works notified police that a Warren Ave. resident was moving snow into the road, as he had done during previous snow storms. Police advised the man that this violates town bylaws, and advised him to clean up the snow. A woman called at 10:53 a.m. to report that her husband’s car had gone off the road and into a tree on Willard Lane. The man was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center; the car was towed. A Slough Road resident called at 12:12 p.m. to report there was a car parked in his driveway, and that footprints in the snow indicated the occupants had gone to the nearby conservation land. Police located the walkers and advised them that the car had to be moved, as it was parked in a private driveway. Police responded to a number of minor accidents precipitated by snowy conditions all afternoon: A car slid off the road on Oak Hill Road at 12:28 p.m.; another car went off the road on South Shaker Road at 2:50 p.m.; a car slid into a utility pole on Old Shirley Road at 3:30 p.m.; cars went off the road at 4:14 p.m. on Murray Lane and 6:19 p.m. on Poor Farm Road. At 5:38 p.m. police advised an Old Littleton Road resident that the snow he was throwing into the road had to be cleaned up, since it violated town bylaws.
Sunday, Janaury 3
At 8:53 a.m. a caller reported that a speeding snow plow had run her car off the road into a snow bank. Police notified the DPW highway foreman and advised him to speak to the plow drivers.
Monday, Janaury 4
A Bowers Road resident called at 2:33 p.m. with concerns about footprints in the snow at the home of a neighbor, who was out of town. Police checked the area and confirmed that the home was secure. Police and fire officers responded to the scene of a single-car accident on Tahanto Trail at 4 p.m. The fire officer disconnected the car’s battery cable before it was towed. Police issued a written warning to the driver. A caller reported at 5:31 p.m. that he had just struck a black Labrador retriever with his car, and the dog had taken off. The animal control officer was notified.
