Eldridge to visit Hildreth House this month
State Senator Jamie Eldridge will be at Hildreth House Friday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. for some informal conversation with seniors. For planning purposes, seniors are asked to notify the COA if they plan to attend.
Free legal help available by phone for veterans
A free veterans’ “dial-a-lawyer” program will take place Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Veterans interested in participating should call 617-338-0610 during these times. Normal phone charges will apply.
Computer help clinic
The COA will offer a free drop-in computer help clinic at Hildreth House, in the computer lab, Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. Mike Peters will be on hand to answer questions, troubleshoot difficulties, or help with computer skills. Although this is a drop-in clinic, the COA asks that attendees call in advance to give Mike an idea what people might need help with.
On the road with COA
Call the Council on Aging office at 978-456-4120 for more information or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip should contact the office about a scholarship.
- Wednesday, Oct. 14: The COA has organized a trip to Flax Pond Cranberry Farm in Carver. The group will tour the bog and have a chance to sort fresh cranberries. Lunch, before the tour, will be at nearby Mama Mia’s. The trip will start from Hildreth House at 10 a.m. and return by 4:30 p.m. Cost is $5 plus lunch.
- Thursday, Oct. 22: This COA trip features a visit to Boston’s Symphony Hall to hear an open rehearsal of an all-Beethoven concert led by conductor James Levine. Trip-goers will leave from Hildreth House at 8 a.m., take in a pre-concert lecture and the concert, stop for lunch, and return by 3:30 p.m. Cost is $22 plus lunch.
