Tuesday, May 26: The ambulance was dispatched to a Withington Lane residence at 2:48 a.m. to assist a woman who had fallen, but she refused transport to a hospital. An officer on patrol at 2:53 a.m. noticed that a stop sign in the center of town was bent over, and he righted it himself. A business owner on Ayer Road reported at 9:03 a.m. that the office had been burglarized. At 10:22 a.m. another business owner in the same area on Ayer Road reported a burglary. (See story) At 3 p.m. a caller reported that there was an unoccupied Ford F150 truck parked at Bellevue Cemetery. Police who investigated found that it belonged to someone walking his dog. A woman stopped at the station at 5:50 p.m. to speak to an officer about issues she was having with her son. The Harvard ambulance and fire personnel, as well as the Devens ambulance, were called to the scene of a tractor-trailer truck rollover on the eastbound side of Route 2, near Route 111, at 6:02 p.m. Ambulance transport was refused. A Peninsula Road resident called at 7:14 p.m. to complain about the noise from work being done by a tree crew in the area. The work crew was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, May 27: A woman stopped at the station at 12:05 a.m. to report there was a horse in the road in front of the station. An officer secured the animal until the owner arrived. At 12:41 a.m. a caller reported that a black sedan was driving erratically on Ayer Road near Route 2. Police checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. A caller reported at 12:49 a.m. that there appeared to be a westbound vehicle in the eastbound lane of Route 2. Police checked the area and found the vehicle parked on the side of the road belonged to a work crew. After receiving a call at 2:06 p.m. about a tree in the middle of Littleton Road, police notified the Department of Public Works, which sent a crew to take care of it. A woman was taken by ambulance from an Orchard Hill residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 4:04 p.m. A woman stopped at the station at 4:10 p.m. to report receiving on her new cell phone text messages that appeared to be “drug-buy-related.” Someone stopped at the station at 5:15 p.m. to complain that a neighbor was parking on his property. A Bolton Road resident called at 8:09 p.m. to report suspicions about a man in the area, who claimed to work for Charter Communications, and who was looking around her property. The man was gone when police arrived.
Thursday, May 28: The ambulance transported a woman from a West Bare Hill Road home to Marlborough Hospital at 2:17 p.m. A caller reported at 2:35 p.m. that a pickup truck was parked at a house that was for sale on South Shaker Road, and that a man was walking behind the property. Police found that the truck belonged to the homeowner, who was walking behind his property.
Friday, May 29: A caller reported a low-hanging wire on Madigan Lane at 1:08 p.m. Police found it was a cable wire and notified Charter Communications. A DPW employee reported at 3:34 p.m. that there was a tree limb resting on a phone box on Mettacomett Path. Verizon was notified. A Slough Road resident called at 7:15 p.m. to complain about a salesman from Inner City Sales who had been very rude to her. Police notified the company representative and were told that the company, which has been soliciting in the area since May, would be leaving soon.
Saturday, May 30: A man was taken by ambulance from a Westcott Road residence to Emerson Hospital at 10:03 a.m. A young girl was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Old Mill Road residence at 11:20 a.m. At 6:10 p.m. a caller reported a car with Iowa plates driving slowly on Blanchard Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. A Wilroy Avenue resident reported that someone had removed the door from his water pump shed. The case is under investigation. Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard police in addressing a loud music complaint in Boxborough at 11:44 p.m.
Sunday, May 31: Boxborough police advised Harvard police at 2:34 a.m. to watch for a silver Monte Carlo suspected of being involved in a burglary in Boxborough and headed toward Harvard. Police did not locate the vehicle. At 2:44 a.m. Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard police in addressing a loud music complaint in Boxborough. A Still River Road resident reported at 5:03 p.m. that a lightning strike had damaged his home. The fire chief and two fire trucks responded. (See story on page 1.) Police received a report of debris in Still River Road at 8:29 p.m., however the officer who responded found nothing. At 10:46 p.m. Littleton police advised Harvard police to watch for a car possibly headed toward Harvard that was suspected in connection with mailbox vandalism in Boxborough. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Monday, June 1: At 7:26 a.m. a caller reported that there was some burned debris in the road near South Shaker and Shaker roads. The responding officer found trash and burned sticks, removed it, and notified the fire chief. Police responding to a report received at 12:53 p.m. about vandalism to the Depot Road soccer field determined that tire tracks, which appeared to have been caused by someone “doing donuts” on the field, may have been accidentally caused by cars driving on the wet playing fields to get to a game. Police asked Charter Communications to address low-hanging wires reported on Slough Road at 1:46 p.m. At 3:05 p.m. a caller reported that someone in a red Toyota pickup truck had entered Bellevue Cemetery, had removed three potted plants, and was heading east on Still River Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. Police were called to a business on Ayer Road at 9:47 p.m. and were asked to stand by while cleaners left the building. The women had become concerned about a suspicious-looking man they had seen earlier in the area.
