Tuesday, June 2
Police received calls at 6:27 and 6:40 a.m. about a deer caught in a deer fence on Old Littleton Road. A man who lived in the area freed the animal. At 11:53 a.m. the fire chief reported that five unregistered cars and a boat trailer that had been parked for a long time near a vacant house by the town beach were creating a hazard, and that their presence violated town bylaws. Police said they would get the vehicle identification numbers and contact the owner(s). At 3:09 p.m. a man stopped at the station to voice a complaint about a police officer who, he said, had stopped a car for a traffic violation in a location that he thought created a hazard. He was advised to discuss his complaint with the police chief. At 4:18 p.m. someone stopped at the station to speak with a police officer about an issue with a neighbor. A police officer contacted the Department of Public Works office at 5:40 p.m. to report that overgrown brush at the intersection of South Shaker and Ayer roads was creating a hazard because it blocked the view of oncoming traffic in the area.
Wednesday, June 3
A man was taken by ambulance from a Shaker Road residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 1:13 a.m. A caller at the Bromfield School reported at 7:13 a.m. that there was a car parked in the driveway with vulgar words written on it. When police arrived to investigate, they were told the incident would be handled by the school. At 8:51 a.m. a caller reported that a black vehicle had been driving erratically on Still River Road, headed toward town center, and had pulled into the driveway of the Historical Society. The vehicle was gone when police arrived. At 11:06 a.m. police arrested Shaker Road resident Brenda Paige, 48, on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. Boxborough police asked Harvard police at 1:45 p.m. to watch for a woman from Boxborough who had left home on foot after a disagreement with someone; they were told that she could be suicidal. They later called to say they had located the woman. A caller at the town beach reported at 5:23 p.m. that a young man in gray swim trunks had been exposing himself. The officer who responded found that the young man’s trunks were too big, and kept sliding down when he came out of the water. After stopping a car for a motor vehicle violation at 6:37 p.m., police issued a summons to the driver, who was operating with a suspended license, and ordered the vehicle towed.
Thursday, June 4
A Littleton County Road resident called at 7:32 a.m. to say there were suspicious-looking people in a blue pickup truck parked in front of her house. She later called to say they were workers she had hired for a project at her house, but she hadn’t recognized them because they were in a different vehicle than the one in which they had arrived the previous day. A student with a broken arm was taken by ambulance from the elementary school to Emerson Hospital at 12:08 p.m. A Woodside Road resident reported at 2:27 p.m. that his mailbox had been destroyed. When police arrived they found a DPW employee putting up a new box to replace the one that had been damaged by a truck being used in the town’s debris-removal project. Someone stopped at the station at 2:52 p.m. to report a possible case of identity theft. A child was taken by ambulance from a Lancaster County Road residence to Emerson Hospital at 5:11 p.m. Police received complaints at 9:14 and 10:45 p.m. about rude door-to-door salesmen soliciting on Barton Road. They contacted the supervisor of the company, who said the salespeople would be leaving Harvard the next day.
Friday, June 5
At 3:56 a.m. a Still River Road resident reported that several tractor-trailer units had been driving through Still River at a high rate of speed. Police checked the area, but did not locate the trucks. At 7:01 a.m. police attempted to flag down a car on Still River Road for speeding. However, the vehicle continued into Bolton before it finally stopped. Police arrested Sterling resident John McNamara, 31, for failure to stop for a police officer, and had the car towed. Police notified National Grid about a wire reported down on Pond Road, near Warren Avenue, at 3:20 p.m. At 7:51 p.m. a police officer told youths skateboarding on the basketball court at the high school not to skate there.
Saturday, June 6
At 12:42 a.m. a caller at the Bromfield School reported hearing what sounded like kids on the roof of the school. There was no one in sight when police arrived to investigate. An officer on patrol at 1:28 a.m. stopped at a loud house party on Mass. Ave. to advise revelers to keep the noise down. At 6:13 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious-looking vehicle on Bolton Road. Police located the vehicle, whose occupants said they were scouting possible locations for a new church.
Sunday, June 7
At 1:44 a.m. an emergency medical technician responding to a medical call box alarm at the beach reported to police that someone had pulled the lever on the box. He said he had seen a car drive off from the area without its headlights on. Police located the car at 1:58 p.m. at Warren Avenue and Tahanto Trail, and arrested the driver, Amanda Garfield, 23, of Myrick Lane, for operating under the influence. Finding one of the passengers too inebriated to walk, they requested an ambulance, which transported the person to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. A woman was taken by ambulance from a Blanchard Road residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 2:22 p.m. An officer who stopped to investigate a car parked on Lancaster County Road at 4:26 p.m. found a mother and daughter in the middle of a disagreement. The ambulance transported a man from an Old Shirley Road residence to Emerson Hospital at 4:44 p.m. A Stow Road resident called at 7:55 p.m. to report screaming, yelling, and the sound of things breaking coming from a neighbor’s home. Police found a father and son in the middle of an escalating verbal altercation, and after helping to restore the peace, advised both of their rights regarding abuse-prevention orders.
Monday, June 8
At 5:01 a.m. a Whitney Road resident reported seeing a garage light on at the home of a neighbor, who was in California. Police checked the home and found all to be in order. After stopping a car for a traffic violation at 7:01 a.m., police issued a summons to the driver for operating with a suspended license, and ordered the car to be towed. At 9:10 a.m. a Harvard police officer assisted Littleton police with an arrest. A South Shaker Road resident called at 1:57 p.m. to report receiving two harassing phone calls. Police advised him to keep a log of the calls, and if they continue, to call dispatch for a case number and then call the telephone company to report the problem. Police noted that the telephone company usually considers three or more of the same type of calls to be harassment.
