Max Flaton of Warren Avenue was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor in Harvard on June 18. Flaton served Troop 1 as the senior patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader, and served as the patrol leader for the Birds of Prey patrol. He has also served on the staff of the Boy Scout Council’s National Youth Leadership Training program for three years and this year will lead the program as the senior patrol leader. Prior to joining Troop 1, Flaton was a member of Troop 242 in Newton, and was a member of Cub Pack 773 in Jupiter, Fla. In 2007, Flaton’s older brother, Zeke, was awarded the same rank, also in Troop 1.
Flaton is finishing his junior year at Bromfield, where he has been an avid distance runner since the seventh grade. In addition, he holds a private pilot license for gliders and is a junior member of the Greater Boston Soaring Club in Sterling. This summer Flaton will return to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico with other members of Troop 1, for two weeks of backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
