Daniel Martin Turner of Littleton County Road was named to the dean’s list at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he is a freshman studying film and marine biology. Daniel, who graduated from Bromfield in 2007, is a recipient of the Sam Walton Community and Alliance for Affordable Services scholarships. In March he will be formally introduced to the membership of the Boston Sea Rovers Club, one of the oldest underwater clubs in America, as their selection for the 2009 Frank Scalli Summer Internship. The internship is in memory of Frank Scalli, a founding member of the Sea Rovers, and an underwater pioneer who led the business development team for the diving industry’s leading company, U.S. Divers, which was chaired by Jacques Cousteau.
Immediately after his spring semester, Daniel will intern with members of the Boston Sea Rovers and associates located throughout the United States to experience a wide variety of underwater-related jobs and career choices. Based in part on his personal interests, the internship will provide advanced scuba dive-training courses and ample opportunities to dive and train with a variety of dive professionals in a broad cross section of diving environments.
