Harvard has two good candidates to fill the vacant Town Moderator position. I’m writing to recommend to Harvard residents that they vote for Cindy Russo on Tuesday, Sept. 16. I have served with Cindy on the Planning Board and subsequently on the Board of Selectmen. I worked with her when she was a member of the Finance Committee as well as when she was chairwoman of the Public Safety Building Committee. She has my utmost respect.
While the position of Town Moderator is inherently apolitical, a balanced viewpoint is required of the moderator in guiding Town Meeting discussion and in the selection of Finance Committee members. I have found Cindy to be willing to listen, insightful, and able to find merit in the arguments of opposing viewpoints.
Cindy is well spoken and, by virtue of her extensive service to the town in a wide range of capacities, is already well versed in the requirements of the position. Harvard residents would do well to have her as their Moderator.
