My “Viewpoint” article in the May 9 issue of the Press, addressing nuclear power not being an answer to climate change, was not meant to imply that solar and wind were the only viable solutions to our energy crisis. I believe the last paragraph concluded that wind, solar, conservation, and efficiency measures were safer, cleaner, and faster ways to reduce demand.
Combined cycle solutions (gas turbines plus steam) would be wonderful to implement, and thank you, John Grady, for pointing that possibility out. It is a fine example of one of the efficiency measures we can, and need to, apply.
