Tuesday, May 13: A suspicious-looking vehicle reported to police at 51 minutes past midnight turned out to be a car-carrier truck that was attempting to drop off a vehicle, but had the wrong address. At 7:36 a.m. a caller on Myrick Lane reported that a car driven by his wife had struck a deer. The deer was gone when police arrived. At 7:51 a.m. police responded to a call from a Still River Road resident requesting assistance in lifting a house member who had fallen. Police and fire personnel from Harvard and Devens responded to a 1:38 p.m. call about a car fire on Route 2 westbound. The vehicle’s engine had caught on fire and ignited a brush fire nearby, which was extinguished by the responding fire departments. The operator, who suffered minor burns, was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center for observation. Littleton police called the station at 2:20 p.m. to alert Harvard police about a possible motor vehicle accident near Ayer Road and Route 2. A caller had reported seeing a man outside of his vehicle holding his head. Police did not locate the man. The animal control officer was notified about a loose dog reported to the station at 7:21 p.m. At 8:01 p.m. a man notified police that he had gone to his ex-wife’s home on Depot Road to drop off his children, but she was not home and he was unwilling to leave them with her housemate. He told police that he left them with their grandparents instead.
Wednesday, May 14: A woman stopped at the station at 12:13 p.m. to report that her ex-husband of three years had yelled at her when dropping his children off, regarding some property he claimed was his that was missing from her home. The woman said that he often entered the house when she wasn’t home and she later found things missing. Police advised her that if he was putting her in fear, she should seek a restraining order or a no-trespass notice; otherwise, it should be handled through her attorney as a civil matter. At 1:34 p.m. a caller reported seeing a dark-colored SUV with Vermont plates parked at the elementary school every day. Police advised the caller that, if he suspected the vehicle’s owner was evading taxes by improperly registering the vehicle in another state, he could report it by downloading the appropriate form on the website of the Registry of Motor Vehicles, under the “I-Pay-Tax program” link. Police also ran a computer check on the vehicle’s plate number and found that the Harvard owner had a business in Vermont, where the vehicle was registered.
Thursday, May 15: Upon investigating a report of a suspicious person walking on Mass Ave at 6:34 p.m., police found a man walking, who told them he had had an argument with his girlfriend at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough. Police gave the man a ride to the Exxon station in Boxborough and alerted Boxborough police to investigate, to ensure the disagreement had not involved domestic violence. After stopping a vehicle on Ayer Road at 8:53 p.m. for a traffic violation, police issued a summons to the driver, Leonardo Campos of Marlborough, for driving without a license. The car was towed; the driver walked to Ayer. Police will also summons the vehicle’s owner for allowing an unlicensed operator to drive it.
Friday, May 16: A suspicious-looking person on Elm Street reported to the station at 1:58 a.m. turned out to be a resident smoking a cigarette in front of his house. A caller on West Bare Hill Road reported an unfamiliar vehicle in a neighbor’s driveway. It turned out to belong to the home’s new owner. At 5:52 p.m. fire personnel responded to a report of the smell of smoke, and of smoke detectors sounding at a Mass. Ave. location. They did not observe any smoke and found no cause for the alarms sounding.
Saturday, May 17: Mass. State Police called the station at 2:50 p.m. to request Harvard’s assistance in locating a truck that may have dumped debris along the westbound side of Route 2. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Sunday, May 18: A caller on Mill Road reported that her purse and cell phone had been taken from her car during the night. The incident is under investigation.
Monday, May 19: At 9:12 a.m. a caller reported that her nanny had not come home as expected. The nanny later contacted police and the woman to notify them she had had car problems. At 10:01 p.m. a caller on Shaker Road reported that there was a young man on the roadside talking on a cell phone, and there was no car in sight. Police investigated, but found it was just someone out for a walk. The driver of a vehicle parked at the overlook on Prospect Hill Road was asked to move along, since vehicles are not allowed to park there after dark. A vehicle towing a boat trailer was reported to be suspicious by an Ayer Road caller at 10:54 p.m. Police located the vehicle, discovered that the trailer had no number plate, and called a tow company. The owner was summonsed for hauling an unregistered trailer. The tow company provided the trailer’s owner with a repair plate and followed it home.
