Retired chef, former Harvard resident, father of Harvard woman
Richard Leo Roussel, 81, of White Horse Beach in Plymouth, of Harvard, and previously of Millis, died unexpectedly April 15, 2008 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Roussel served as executive chef at Babson College for more than 25 years, as a part-time chef at the Wellesley Country Club, and as a chef at many other establishments in Illinois, New York, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, and Maine until his retirement.
He was a member of the Epicurian Club of Boston, Babson College’s Quarter Century Club, and was an adviser of the AK Fraternity at Babson College during his years at Babson.
After his retirement, he enjoyed staying at his beachfront home on White Horse Beach as well as living part-time with his daughter and son-in-law, helping take care of the children and cooking fabulous meals for the family. His love, inspiration, sense of humor, and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him.
Born Dec. 10, 1926 in Nashua, N.H., he was the son of the late Leo and Yvonne (Malenfant) Roussel. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was the devoted husband of the late Marie (Grieco) Roussel. He leaves behind his daughter Victoria J. Roussel of Harvard and White Horse Beach; his son-in-law Paul S. Rotker; and his cherished grandsons Austin Rotker, 10, and Benjamin Rotker, 7, of Harvard. He was the beloved brother of the late Earl Rousselle of Coco, Fla. and Dorothy Midolo of Lawrence.
The funeral took place in Plymouth Friday, Apr. 18. Arrangements were by the Cartmell Funeral Home. A memorial guestbook is available at www.cartmellfuneralhome.com.
