Tuesday, March 25: Police were called to a house on Stonecutters Path at 8:41 a.m. to help supervise the removal of one spouse’s items from the home. A worried mom out for the afternoon asked police to check on her babysitter after she called home, but got no answer, at 1:55 p.m. Police found the babysitter and the children playing outside.
Wednesday, March 26: A Littleton Road resident observing the cutting of tree limbs outside his home called dispatch at 9:39 a.m. to report that the power company had all sorts of cars and trucks parked in the road. Police followed up on the call, but found the power company workers had parked their equipment with room for passing cars. A Harvard man driving on Warren Ave. turned too quickly and struck a tree just before 3:25 p.m. There was minor damage to the vehicle and it required a tow. No citations were issued, and although the man appeared uninjured, he was taken to Emerson Hospital as a precaution. A Madigan Lane homeowner reported her suspicion that someone was trespassing at her home at 11:33 p.m., but police did not find anyone in the area.
Thursday, March 27: At 3:11 p.m. police assisted a home health worker at a Pattee Road residence with a car that had run out of gas. An Ayer Road business owner requested a police escort to her car as she left work at 9:08 p.m. Police on patrol at 11:11 p.m. found an open gate at the Shaker Hills golf course, but nothing else amiss.
Friday, March 28: A car went off the pavement on Prospect Hill Road sometime before 6:46 a.m., when it was reported to dispatch. The driver was able to liberate the vehicle, however, and drive away without assistance. The driver of a utility truck making a delivery on Finn Road about 9:11 a.m. accidentally hit a Verizon utility pole when he was backing up. Police notified the phone company about the damaged pole. At 9:40 a.m. a Harvard woman called dispatch to report finding something suspicious on her credit report. Police advised her to follow up on the matter on her own. The ambulance team and Fire Department responded to a call at 11:35 a.m. and helped with a car accident on Route 2 eastbound. During the snow flurry on Friday, two cars slid off town roads. The first accident occurred at 12:03 p.m. when a car traveling near Littleton Road and Cruft Lane slid into an embankment. There was minor damage to the car, but the driver was unhurt and no citations were issued. At 12:18 p.m., another car slid off Prospect Hill Road and required towing. There were no injuries or citations in this incident either. An 18-wheeler determined to get to Devens via Old Mill Road got stuck after driving up a residential driveway and getting mired in a septic field at 3:35 p.m. The driver was working with faulty directions from a GPS system, Officer Castro noted. A visit to the police station by the Boy Scouts took place at 5 p.m. in between two residential burglaries (Story). A Brown Road resident called for the ambulance at 11:01 p.m., but ultimately refused transport.
Saturday, March 29: Harvard police helped state police with an accident on Route 2 by shutting down the entrance ramps to that road at 4:37 a.m. At 8:11 a.m. an officer was called to a home on West Bare Hill Road for help resolving a family argument. A Harvard driver struck a deer on Lancaster County Road at 8:44 a.m., severely wounding the animal. Police called the animal control officer to come put it down and dispose of the carcass. A man in the parking lot of Fitchburg Savings Bank put his car in reverse and accidentally ran over a metal lamppost lying on the ground at 1:06 p.m. An Old Mill Road resident was taken to UMass Memorial Hospital in Clinton by ambulance at 6:25 p.m. A woman driving with a suspended license was stopped on Depot Road near the railroad tracks at 10:29 p.m. She was given a summons for that offense, and her passenger drove the car home.
Sunday, March 30: At 12:46 a.m. dispatch received a call about an incident of “ding and ditch” on Myrick Lane. A driver used a cell phone to call police about an erratic driver on Bolton Road at 4:56 p.m. Police made contact with the driver, who explained that she had been distracted by a cell phone call of her own. Boxborough police called Harvard at 5:25 p.m. to ask about a fire burning on Stow Road. Although the fire was a permitted one, the homeowner had to put it out since burning hours end at 4 p.m. A driver was stopped on Ayer Road at 6:26 p.m. for driving with an expired registration. The errant driver was given a ticket and the car was towed from the scene. At 7:05 p.m. a Littleton Road resident brought an electric fence-type dog collar they found into the station, where it is being held for safekeeping.
Monday, March 31: A Fitchburg woman driving with a suspended license was stopped and given a summons for that offense at 1:39 a.m., and her car was towed from the Route 2 exit ramp.
