Tuesday, April 1: A South Shaker Road resident called police at 11:08 a.m. to report suspicions about a man walking nearby with a map, but apparently without a car. Police were unable to find the man, however.
Wednesday, April 2: The ambulance squad gave lift assistance to a Prospect Hill Road resident at 12:14 a.m. At 11:36 a.m. a Harvard resident gave police custody of a gun they no longer wanted to keep. Someone seeking legal advice went to the station at 4:45 p.m. to consult with an officer.
Thursday, April 3: A Westcott Road woman became simultaneously suspicious of a woman walking by with head phones on and a car that drove up to a neighbor’s mailbox, and called dispatch at 11:55 a.m. After investigating, Officer Castro noted that the woman was out for some exercise, and the driver of the car was delivering a CD to a friend. A Prospect Hill Road woman receiving harassing phone calls reported them to police at 5:05 p.m. She was referred to her cell phone provider for further assistance. A no-trespass notice was served to one spouse at a Fairbank Street address at 7:59 p.m. A firefighter called on an Oak Hill Road resident at 11:13 p.m. after dispatch received a call about a permitted fire that continued to smolder.
Friday, April 4: Two Harvard parents concerned for their 18-year-old daughter’s welfare came in to the station at 8:36 a.m. asking for police help locating their child. After investigating, police found the daughter and one of her friends in the custody of the Worcester Police Department. The Fire Department responded to a utility pole fire on Ayer Road at 11:35 a.m. and put the fire out. At 11:36 a.m. a 15-ton crane came loose from the back of a flatbed trailer traveling southbound on Ayer Road near Doe’s Corner. Police contacted the owner of a specialty crane business in the area and two other cranes put the ill-fated crane back on the trailer. The driver of the trailer spent between $5,000 and $6,000 out of pocket, Castro noted, to have the crane put to rights. He was not given a citation in the incident. A Littleton Road resident was taken to Emerson Hospital by ambulance at 5:11 p.m. Police attempted to serve a restraining order to a Stow Road resident at 5:20 p.m., and another to a Poor Farm Road resident at 5:31 p.m. The Fire Department was called to help the Bolton Fire Department at 10:27 p.m., but no further details were available.
Saturday, April 5: An officer driving behind a car driven by a Princeton woman traveling on Ayer Road ran her license plate number and determined that she was driving with a revoked license due to cancellation of her insurance. After stopping her at 1:48 a.m., police gave her a summons to court and her car was towed from the scene of the stop. At 2:23 a.m. Gregory Adamowicz, 18, and Chase Wilson, 19, both of Groton, were observed stealing a “caution” road sign on Ayer Road and driving away at high speed. Both men were arrested and charged with larceny over $250. Adamowicz was also charged with using a motor vehicle in commission of a crime, driving after the stated curfew on his time-restricted license, and speeding. The men were released on their personal recognizance at 5:18 a.m. A Harvard girl driving on Tahanto Trail swerved to avoid a deer and hit both a stone wall and a tree just before 10:25 a.m. She was taken to Emerson Hospital as a precaution, but did not appear to be injured. The car sustained heavy damage and was towed from the site of the accident. No citations were issued. A report of a permitted fire on Mass. Ave. that continued to smolder after hours was reported to dispatch at 6:25 p.m. The Fire Department responded to the call, but no further details were available. Harvard police helped Massachusetts State Police with a motor vehicle accident on Route 2 westbound at 7:40 p.m. At 11:15 p.m. an officer found a dead beaver in the middle of Ayer Road and moved it over to the side. The DPW removed the carcass the next morning.
Sunday, April 6: The owner of an electric dog collar turned in at the station last week came to retrieve it at 11:14 a.m. Police searched for a car that was reported being driven erratically on Route 2 at 3:06 p.m., but were unable to locate it. The ambulance team took a Finn Road resident to Emerson Hospital at 8:21 p.m. At 8:34 p.m. Massachusetts State Police asked Harvard police for help locating a level II sex offender who had moved out of state without notifying either local or state authorities. A Park Lane resident came into the station at 9:19 p.m. to register a complaint about a red Dodge pickup truck with a loud exhaust that has been speeding repeatedly on Park Lane. Police will be watching for this vehicle, Castro said. A Myrick Lane woman was taken to an unspecified hospital by ambulance at 11:35 p.m.
Monday, April 7: Two false security alarms rang at a Warren Ave. residence at 3:57 p.m. and again at 4:54 p.m. There was no other significant activity.
