Marie Sobalvarro has qualities and abilities to make an excellent selectman. Marie has academic financial training followed by a variety of professional work experiences requiring these skills. She has come to Harvard, joined the Finance Committee, contributed collegially, and recognized the town’s financial strengths and weaknesses. She now has a good sense of where to begin with sensible changes and improvement.
There are two other qualities: she helped establish the first Volunteer Fair and volunteered as a driver for Harvard Help. On the FinCom she was the contact person with the COA, where she gained the respect of the trustees by fairly reporting our needs.
Not significantly appreciated is the shoe leather she expended on Beacon Hill. She knows real work happens only when involved parties sit down and discuss the pros and cons of common problems. Marie has shown her energy and earned respect as a listener and contributor to support Harvard’s needs. I urge voters to elect Marie as selectman on April 1.
