After working with Keith S. Cheveralls for the past three years, I have compelling reasons why he should be elected to the School Committee.
My first meeting with Keith was on the prize committee for “Celebration, the After Prom Event” which is the culmination of many months of work by more than 100 volunteers. Keeping a large meeting of volunteers on track, focused, and object-oriented is no small task and yet that was always the case. Keith is masterful at staying on task while not overlooking or ignoring the input of others.
In order to insure the safety of more than 200 Bromfield students and their guests it takes attention to every detail and the ability to communicate clearly, frequently, and convincingly with police, fire, and town officials. There is no room for error with the safety of our teens. Keith acted as co-chairman of this event for three years and during his tenure the attendance at the party rose to greater than 90 percent of the junior and senior classes. More remarkably, more than 75 percent of the students remained for the entire event, making it no surprise that the event was incident-free.
Keith and I had different opinions on a few issues and I appreciated that he could listen, empathize, and compromise in order to achieve the best results for the event. Through Keith’s insistence, the prizes were used as an incentive to remain until the final act.
Keith approached me to sign the petition to censure the School Committee. His reason for taking the committee to task was evident and is one of the reasons that he is seeking election to the School Committee. He feels that the job of the School Committee includes accountability to the electorate. So do I.
On April 1, I encourage residents to cast their votes for Keith Cheveralls for School Committee. I look forward to my voice being heard.
