I encourage residents to vote for Virginia Justicz. Last year, in the midst of significant controversy, she tossed her hat in the ring to help restore confidence in the School Committee. Given the acrimonious debate, this took real courage on her part. During her brief tenure, she has demonstrated her financial skills, her willingness to listen and learn, and her independence—often in her strong but quiet way, challenging the thinking of those around her.
In the League of Women Voters’ School Committee debate, Virginia continued to articulate a clear vision, a great understanding of the issues, and a sincere desire to make a difference. She is clearly one who will build bridges with the other boards, be respectful in her presentation of ideas, and be comfortable in expressing her differences in views. She has also taken an active role in seeking change at the State House to help solve our structural deficit—perhaps our greatest challenge.
She has only had a few months on the board and yet has gained my respect and admiration. I want to see her do so much more in the next three years. I encourage everyone to vote for Virginia.
