The town of Harvard is a unique, thriving community with many passionate residents who collectively possess a diverse set of skills and talents. Unbeknownst to many, especially those relatively new to town, there are close to 100 local clubs, associations, and municipal organizations that are critical to the functioning of the town. These groups rely almost entirely on the support and energy of volunteers. Dedicated volunteers in Harvard plan and execute events such as the Fourth of July festivities; they serve on town boards and committees of all kinds; they organize and coach local sports teams; they promote local artists; they provide support for Harvard’s seniors, and they serve in countless other ways.
The town of Harvard’s first Volunteer Fair will take place Saturday, Jan. 12, from noon to 3 p.m. at Volunteers Hall in the library. Representatives from many of the town’s organizations will be gathered together in one place where interested residents can visit and learn about the multitude of volunteer opportunities available in our community. At the Volunteer Fair, visitors will be able to connect with others who share similar talents, hobbies, or concerns and find out about programs related to the schools, library, town committees, Council on Aging, and more.
Come visit the Volunteer Fair and find out how to get involved in making a positive difference in our community. Free coffee and supervised children’s activities will be available.
