Tuesday, January 15: Brittany Withers, 18, of Harvard, was arrested for driving under the influence at 4:15 a.m. when a police officer on patrol determined that she had consumed too much alcohol to drive safely. Withers’ car was trapped in a snowbank on Mass. Ave. and she was attempting to free it when the officer encountered her. She was booked at the station and later released to the custody of her parents. A Prospect Hill Road resident called the station at 7:18 a.m. to report an injured deer in the road. The animal control officer euthanized the unfortunate animal and dispatched the carcass forthwith. At 9:09 a.m. the ambulance team took a South Shaker Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. A minor car accident took place at 9:39 a.m. when a car driven by a Harvard man making a turn onto Ayer Road from Whitney Road was struck by a car driven by a Harvard woman traveling south on Ayer Road. There were no personal injuries, and damage to both cars was very minor. No citations were issued in the accident. The Fire Department and ambulance team were summoned to the scene of an accident on Route 2 westbound at 2:40 p.m. A resident came into the station at 9:30 p.m. to report receiving harassing phone calls at home. An officer advised him to contact his phone service provider.
Wednesday, January 16: A Bromfield employee reported that the school district’s pickup truck had been damaged by a snowplow sometime before 6:25 a.m., when the call came into the station. At 4:24 p.m., a young person was taken to Emerson Hospital by the ambulance team. A Harvard resident lost track of a cell phone while sledding on the Common, and reported the loss to the station at 5:58 p.m.
Thursday, January 17: Workers accidentally set off a fire alarm at a Pinnacle Road residence at 7:50 a.m.
Friday, January 18: A lost motorist came into the station at 1:23 a.m. needing directions, which were provided by the dispatcher on duty. At 10:13 a.m., a Warren Avenue resident called police to report what looked like a fire on a National Grid utility pole. Dispatch notified that company, which took care of the problem.
Saturday, January 19: The Ayer Police Department called the Harvard Police Department at 6:45 a.m. for help in locating a white van driven by suspects in a holdup at gunpoint in that town. Harvard police were not able to find the vehicle, however. A Pattee Road woman asked police for help retrieving her mail from the mailbox at 11:59 a.m.
Sunday, January 20: Police stopped a woman from Ayer at the intersection of Ayer Road and Myrick Lane and gave her a summons for driving with a suspended license. Her car was towed from the scene. A report of suspicious activity on Bare Hill Pond came in to dispatch at 1:28 a.m., but Officer Murphy found the person in question was an ice fisherman out for the early bite. Another report of suspicious activity was recorded at 8:07 p.m., when an alert townsperson described someone taking wood pallets from outside Bromfield. On investigation, however, Officer Hughes and Detective Izzo found a school district employee on legitimate business cleaning up the school. A Bromfield teacher working late called police at 10 p.m. to report hearing strange noises on the roof, but police found nothing amiss at the school.
Monday, January 21: The ambulance squad took an Ayer Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 9:12 a.m. At 1:33 p.m. the sledder who lost the cell phone on Wednesday was reunited with it.
