Tuesday, January 1: The new year began with a three-car accident on East Bare Hill Road at 12:13 p.m. when a Harvard woman pulled out onto East Bare Hill Road from Armstrong Road just in front of a southbound car driven by another woman from Harvard. The southbound car swerved to avoid her, but ended up colliding with a town truck traveling northbound and driven by a DPW employee. The first Harvard woman was cited for failure to yield, but there were no personal injuries in the accident, and none of the vehicles required a tow truck. A caller reported children sledding in a dangerous area on West Bare Hill Road at 2:59 p.m. Police investigated and found evidence of sledding, but no children. At 5:04 p.m. an officer on patrol called dispatch and reported damage to a guardrail on Ayer Road. A car hit a utility pole on West Bare Hill Road and damaged it sometime before 10:06 p.m., when the hit-and-run accident was reported to police. National Grid came out and repaired the pole the next day.
Wednesday, January 2: A townsperson driving by an officer working a traffic detail stopped to tell him about a child seen jumping out of a window at 1:20 a.m. The officer took note of the address, and went to talk to the parents of the enterprising child. The ambulance team took a Prospect Hill Road woman to Emerson Hospital at 3 a.m. At 9:17 a.m., the fire department stood by while a towing company loaded an oil truck that had gone off piste when traveling down a customer’s long driveway. A Littleton Road man was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance at 9:42 a.m. At 3:52 p.m., the ambulance team was again called to duty to take a woman from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 11:49 p.m. the squad went into service to take an Old Littleton Road man to Emerson Hospital.
Thursday, January 3: At 7:24 a.m. a two-car accident occurred at the intersection of Ayer Road and Myrick Lane when a man from Harvard exiting Myrick Lane hit an oncoming car driven by a Leominster man. The Harvard man was cited for failure to yield, and the car driven by the Leominster man was sufficiently damaged to be towed from the scene. At 2:33 p.m. a student from a visiting sports team reported a stolen iPod, which he thought was most likely taken during the game against the Trojans.
Friday, January 4 : A Harvard resident reported seeing two suspicious-acting pedestrians walking along Ayer Road near Old Mill Road at 4:14 a.m. Police checked the area, but found no one. The ambulance squad took a Bolton Road resident to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 8:33 a.m. Another medical call came into dispatch at 2:19 p.m., when an Ayer Road woman requested transport to Emerson Hospital. A woman from another town called dispatch at 6:29 p.m. to report that she was being followed by a driver in a black SUV, and that she was driving to the police station. While an officer waited for her to arrive, she never came to the station, and no further contact was made..
Saturday, January 5: At 11:30 a.m. the ambulance team took a man from Ayer Road to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 8:55 a.m. Officer Murphy talked to a Stow Road man about his complaint that work being done on an adjacent lot was too noisy at inappropriate times. Two false fire alarms rang at the Village Nursery School just hours apart, the first at 12:33 p.m., then again at 2 p.m. A disabled car parked in a bad location at the former Toreku Tractor lot was towed by police at 2:27 p.m. after the owner refused to move the vehicle when police requested he do so.
Sunday, January 6: A West Bare Hill Road resident called dispatch at 8:12 p.m. to report a vandalized mailbox.
Monday, January 7: A female employee of the Bromfield School was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 10:20 a.m. At 6:29 p.m., a Harvard resident driving on East Bare Hill and Armstrong roads struck a deer. Damage was minor to both car and deer, and both ran off down the road.
