The Bromfield boys tennis team won its fourth straight match Monday, April 4, beating the West Boylston High School Lions to improve its record to four wins and one loss. The Trojans won four of the five matches on the day. Senior Evan Clark had the most impressive victory, with a score of 6–3, 6–4.
At first singles, senior captain Drew Tracey needed three sets to win. After winning 6–1 in the first set, he dropped the second at 5–7. He came back, however, consistently serving aces, and won the final set 6–4. Clark played second singles. Patrick Coffey, a senior captain, played third singles. He dropped the first set 4–6, but fought hard to win the remaining pair of sets 6–1 and 6–2.
The ever-improving Trojans doubles teams captured one of their two matches. Junior Kyle Wahlburg and sophomore Keiron Stoddart lost their match by a score of 3–6, 6–3, 5–7, but second doubles team senior Keeon Tabrizi and freshman Casey Clark cruised to a win with a score of 6–1 in both the second and third sets after dropping the first. The elder Clark said that West Boylston was a tougher match than the team had expected. He added that the team “has a lot to work on if [they] want to go far in the playoffs.” The Trojans will travel to Holden to play Wachusett Regional High School Friday, May 4. Clark added that he hopes hard work at practice this week will keep the winning streak alive.
