Support for Clark, Wallace

March 9, 2007

Our town is facing challenges of enormous import. Increasing annual overrides threaten to eliminate all but the wealthy from our population. Never ending budget cuts threaten our schools, the use and future of our municipal buildings, the enjoyment of Bare Hill Pond, and the continued presence of our elder citizens. Lack of leadership in resolving the affordable housing problem threatens to eliminate our rural way of life with unbridled 40B developments. Lack of vision and a “pull-up-the-drawbridge” mentality threatens our very financial viability as we run away in fear from opportunities at Devens. While some of our selectmen have worked diligently to provide for Harvard’s future in the face of these daunting challenges, others have stuck their feet firmly in the mud and refused to address the demands of change. Their preference is to keep Harvard the way it was instead of paying attention to what Harvard could become. For these reasons, I am strongly supporting Tim Clark and Lucy Wallace in the upcoming election for town selectman. With their guidance, vision, commitment, fearlessness, and willingness to listen, our precious town will once again prosper.
