About five years ago, a gentleman who described himself as “new to town” walked into the annual meeting of the board of directors of the Harvard Schools Trust. This annual event is required by law to be an open meeting, and it must be posted and advertised as such. However, in my 13 years on the trust, only two nonboard or family members have ever attended a meeting. So his attendance was noteworthy, both in that he came and that he was so interested in and curious about the functioning of the trust, the schools, and the town. I have continued to find this gentleman curious, willing to ask difficult questions, and to get involved in town government, whether to serve on the Planning Board, the Town Center Planning Committee, or the Harvard Schools Trust Board. I have been impressed with his intelligence, his ability to synthesize information, and his willingness to work hard on behalf of this town and the things he cares about. I have grown to respect him and to enjoy his astute wit, his easygoing personality, and his work ethic. He willingly meets with seniors at Hildreth House to hear their opinions, and with the seniors at Bromfield in the “fishbowl” to determine what is important to them. He has proven himself on the trust to be a valuable member and a volunteer extraordinaire, hardworking, and ethical.
I’m voting for Tim Clark for selectman in the upcoming election and urging others to join me.
