A Subaru vs. deer accident took place on Littleton Road just before 8:54 a.m. The car sustained minor damage, but the deer was totaled. At 4:07 Tuesday afternoon, a Harvard resident reported a fraudulent transaction of over $1,000 on a credit card. The police are working to determine jurisdiction in the incident. A Toyota traveling eastbound on Mass. Avenue was struck by a Chrysler at the intersection of Mass. Avenue and Slough Road at 4:06 p.m. There were no injuries, but the driver of the Chrysler was cited for failure to yield.
Wednesday, January 31
A Mass. Avenue resident complained of a loud truck engine idling in the Westward Orchards parking lot at 5:18 a.m. The police officer investigating the call found the truck’s driver waiting for a delivery to a local orchard. He was asked to cut his engine. An abandoned 911 call at 7:06 a.m. resulted in a police visit to a Prospect Hill Road residence to verify that everything was all right. The homeowner reported that the call was a mistake. Officer Castro noted that most abandoned 911 calls are the result of someone trying to dial 411 for information. Ambulance personnel took a Blanchard Road resident to Emerson Hospital at 8:05 a.m.
Thursday, February 1
Police started an investigation into fraudulent credit card activity for a resident on Jacob Gates Road at 1:29 p.m. The resident had used her credit card at TJ Maxx and the parent company, TJX, called her to report possible misuse of her credit card. The police are working with the TJX company to continue the investigation. An abandoned 911 call from a Withington Lane home at 7:58 p.m. also turned out to be an error on the part of the homeowner. At 7:49 p.m., the ambulance crew took a Slough Road resident to Emerson Hospital.
Friday, February 2
The Ayer Police Department requested help from the Harvard Police Department at 10:25 a.m. Ayer needed help locating a car that was reportedly driving through town erratically. Harvard could not locate the car. A missing iPod was returned to its owner at Bromfield at 2 p.m. A burglar alarm rang on Old Meadow Lane at 3:56 p.m. The alarm was false. A car was stopped near the intersection of Stow and Eldridge roads at 8:36 p.m. Friday evening. The driver was attempting to pass in the snow in a no-passing lane, and was cited for operating to endanger. A resident on Stonecutter’s Path called dispatch to report three cars parked and causing a disturbance at 9:51 p.m. When an officer arrived to check on the report, the cars were gone. A driver veered off the road near Mass. Avenue and Slough Road at 11:20 p.m., but he was able to get the car on the road again and no citations were issued.
Saturday, February 3
A report of credit card fraud was called in at 12:47 p.m., but no report on the matter was on file at press time. Two Harvard residents traveling in opposite directions on Depot and Under Pin Hill roads collided just before 1:48 p.m. There were no injuries and no damage to the vehicles, and no citations were issued. A car accident at the intersection of Stow and Westcott roads was reported at 2:28 p.m. An accident report was not available at press time. An Eldridge Road resident was transported to Emerson Hospital at 2:59 p.m. A report of suspicious vehicles called in by a Depot Road resident at 9:38 p.m. turned out to belong to sledders out for a nighttime run.
Sunday, February 4
Officer Babu assisted state police with a fatal car accident in Shirley at 4:03 p.m. He is a certified reconstructionist and has special training in accident investigation. A Stow Road homeowner was taken to the Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance at 6:15 p.m.
Monday, February 5
A 911 hangup call from a home on Mass. Avenue resulted in police follow-up at 8:40 a.m. The call was made in error. A small personal pocketknife found near the library was turned in to the station at 2:11 p.m. The knife is still in safekeeping. State police called dispatch to report that a tractor-trailer from Leominster had knocked down a stop sign at the intersection of Ayer and Old Shirley roads at 6:50 p.m. Harvard police were unable to locate the truck.
