The Littleton-Bromfield varsity ice hockey team dropped a game to the Aztecs of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School last Friday by a score of 4–1. To advance to the Coughlin Conference, the Tigers will have to win all three remaining games on the schedule.
Despite outshooting Assabet in the first period, the Tigers gave up three goals. The Tigers received shots from many players, including the Broadbent brothers, senior Charlie and sophomore Jack. The Broadbents both had a pair saved by the Assabet goalie.
The second period remained scoreless in spite of the Tigers’ many opportunities to advance the team. Junior John Gill displayed superb puck-handling skills and created two shots for himself, while senior Matt Bohan prevented a possible Assabet goal later in the period. He skated back to break up what would have been a two-on-none break.
Fourteen seconds after Assabet scored their final goal, Gill put the puck in the back of the net for the Tigers. The third-period slapshot slipped past by the goalie’s left side and into the top corner of the net.
The team is “going to have to practice hard this week,” Jack Broadbent said, adding “The team will have a good chance of being successful if everyone focuses.”

The Tigers have already qualified for the district tournament and are now looking to capture the Coughlin Conference. “Littleton-Bromfield has never won the conference and it would be great to do it this year,” Broadbent said. Furthermore, he added, everyone on the team, but especially seniors like his elder brother, Charlie, would like to finish the regular season on top.
