The Bromfield boys indoor track team placed fourth in the Mid-Wachusett Division C league meet at Shrewsbury High School last Wednesday, January 24. In a field of six, the Trojans came home with 30 points and finished behind Hudson, Oakmont Regional, and Lunenburg. They outpaced Narragansett Regional and Murdock.
Senior Kevin Winter ran in the two-mile event and finished in fourth place with a time of 11 minutes, 39 seconds, earning four points for the team. Junior Connor Garrison finished in fifth place in the next event, the 55-meter hurdle. His time of 9.5 seconds put the Trojans up two points.
Sophomore Ben Waldman represented Bromfield in the one-mile race. He finished third, earning six points, with a time of 5:1. In the 1,000-meter event, sophomore Sam Doward finished in third place. He added six more points to the team total with a time of 2:55.
The Trojans also entered three relay teams in the meet. Sophomore Brendan Chen, Garrison, freshman Tyler Papazian, and Waldman made up the 4 by 440-yard team. They finished in fourth position with a time of 4:18.
The 4 X 220-yard team, made up of seventh-grader Nathaniel Alexander, sophomore Nick Cleary, freshman Andrew Ojemann, and sophomore JJ Dowling, finished in fifth place with a time of 1:55.
The final relay team for the Trojans consisted of Winter, seventh-grader Peter Nocka, sophomore Sam Carley, and Dorward. This team finished in third place with a time of ten minutes and eighteen seconds.
Bromfield wrapped up its regular season with a total of two wins and three losses. Two runners will continue on to the district meet, currently scheduled for Saturday, February 10 at Fitchburg High School.
