Boys basketball finishes league play with a win

The Trojans took on the Tahanto Stags Friday, February 9 for the final league game and came away with a 70–40 win at Tahanto Regional High School in Boylston. The final victory of the regular season bettered the boys’ record to twelve wins and six losses.

 

The game remained close in the first half, with the Trojans leading by six points at half-time. In the second half captain Ian Rothkopf caught fire. The senior hit three three-point shots. All twelve Trojans who dressed for the game contributed and the scoring was spread out among nine players.

Rothkopf led the team with 24 points. Fellow captain, senior Reed Harasimowicz, added 13 points. He was three for four from the free throw line. Junior Ben Brown was the third Trojan in double figures with ten points.

Junior Josh Lyvers scored seven points. He also shot three for four from the free throw line. Juniors Brian Morgan and Jon Fricchione added five and four points respectively. Rounding out the scoring on Friday were sophomore Hugo Al-Homsi with three points; senior Chris Kenney with two points; and junior Connor Kempton with two.

The Trojans now turn their sights towards the Clark Tournament and the district playoffs. Sunday, February 18, at 1 p.m., Bromfield will play the number three seed in the Clark Tournament, Bartlett High School. The game will take place at the Kneller Athletic Center on the campus of Clark University in Worcester.
