With over two months of trail maintenance and hard work completed, members of the Harvard Snowmobile Club now (still) eagerly await the first snowfall of the season! Among the many tasks undertaken by our members, we have cleared numerous fallen trees, re-routed several trails and reconstructed two major bridges. Additionally, we are in the final stages of installing two new bridges to help keep the network connected. Our thanks to everyone who has turned out to help and again, a note of appreciation to the many private landowners and the Harvard Conservation Commission (HSC), who kindly permit HSC to use the trails.
As we near the completion of this season’s preparations, we would like to remind everyone that, in order to legally ride any of the trails around town, all snowmobiles must display a valid Massachusetts registration sticker, a valid Harvard Snowmobile Club decal, and a Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts sticker. A Harvard pass automatically includes a one-year membership to the club. All passes, with the exception of state registrations, are readily available during normal business hours at Toreku Tractor in Ayer.
We will soon begin the important process of carefully staking and marking out all of the trails with caution signs, stop markers, and direction arrows to help keep riders safe and to ensure that anyone unfamiliar with our trail network does not inadvertently wander off the trails. A detailed map of the Harvard trail network is included with each club membership, which again is available at Toreku Tractor during normal business hours.
