Special Town Meeting and the elections have passed, but there remains an unaddressed serious inequity. Citizens of Harvard and Ayer who are residents of Devens pay taxes to MassDevelopment without democratic representation. Harvard citizens, their officials, state legislators, and MassDevelopment must seek an equitable democratic solution. Purchasing property in Still River or Devens does not create an entitlement to form a new town. Other solutions are available. We all have the responsibility to right this wrong of denying a democratic process to some citizens of Massachusetts. The shot heard round the world was fired not far from here. The echo is still with us.
