Library hosts virtual storytimes and book groups
All storytimes, book groups, and events are virtual via Zoom. To learn more, or to be added to a storytime or book group, send an email to childrensroom@harvardpubliclibrary.org and indicate your child’s age. A unique Zoom link will be emailed to participants the day before each meeting.
Please note: Groups are limited to Harvard residents or HES/Bromfield students. Others may register one week in advance provided there is space available.
There will be no curbside pickup at the library Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27.

Virtual ‘Family Feud’
The Harvard Lions Club invites the public to its online “Family Feud” event Saturday, Nov. 21, 7 to 8:30 p.m. This is a team competition for which you create your own team of 2 to 6 people If you are “single,” you will be assigned to an existing team. Team members need not be in the same location as long as they have internet access and are familiar with Zoom. The cost per team is $60, independent of the number of members. Afro-pop meets moz-jazz at Indian Hill
Indian Hill Music will present a live-stream concert Saturday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. Experience the unique and effervescent music of Albino Mbie, incorporating sounds and rhythms from Mozambique, the U.S., and around the world. Mbie is an award-winning musician, guitarist, singer, composer, and sound engineer. Email boxoffice@indianhillmusic.org or call 978-486-9524 to obtain a code to access the performance.
Harvard Lions Randemic virtual 5K run/walk
Join the Harvard Lions virtual 5K run/walk event, Nov. 21-29. You can run, jog, or walk on a road, on a trail, on a treadmill, at the gym, or on a track. Follow one of the courses identified on the Lions website or create your own. Run your own race at your own pace while supporting a good cause. For a $20 registration fee, you will receive $10 in coupons from local retail stores.

All proceeds from this event support charities aiding the blind and visually impaired, families with disabled or terminally ill children, local food pantries, and other organizations assisting those in need.
Military items and books on sale at Fort Devens Museum
On Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Fort Devens Museum will hold a sale of books covering a broad range of military topics. The sale will also include pieces of uniforms and equipment dating from World War II to the present. Covid-19 guidelines provided by the state will be followed. The museum is located at 94 Jackson Road in Devens.
Latin American music featured at Healing Garden virtual concert
Musician William Lenderking will share Latin American classical guitar compositions with the Healing Garden community and friends Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. The live-stream concert will be a musical journey through Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, and Venezuela, with brief anecdotes about the selections. Acton’s Theatre III presents ‘The Point!’
On Friday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m., Acton’s Theatre III will present the musical radio play “The Point!”—a fable about acceptance of differences and finding one’s own voice, based on music by songwriter Harry Nilsson. Acting, singing, accompaniment, and artwork is by students from Hildreth Elementary School, Bromfield, and other local schools. PTO hosts online book fair
Through Nov. 29, Harvard’s parent- teacher organization (PTO) will hold an online book fair. See https://bit.ly/2IKWUjI to shop for books for students in kindergarten through middle school. Purchases are shipped directly to homes. Free shipping is available for book orders over $25. Proceeds will benefit Harvard’s public schools.
Garden Club will hear about Victorian flowers
Author Thomas Mickey will speak to the Garden Club of Harvard about “Victorian Flowers-—Still the Favorite,” which is the subject of his newest book. Fivesparks holds virtual holiday fair
Fivesparks is hosting a virtual holiday arts and crafts fair featuring unique, handmade gifts: paintings, pottery, glass art, wooden wares, fiber arts, soaps, jewelry, and more. Life of Massachusetts suffragette featured at Woman’s Club meeting
On Monday, Dec. 7, at 12:30 p.m. the Harvard Woman’s Club will present “How to Move Mountains of Complacency,” stories from the life of Massachusetts suffragette Katharine Morey. Narrated by Harvard resident Helen Batchelder, the program focuses on Morey’s role in the 1916 Congressional Union for Women’s Suffrage on its “Suffrage Special” journey throughout the United States, a movement which contributed to ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.
