In the past week, emergency responders received three medical calls. All three people required ambulance transport, two with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. Officers also responded to a false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Jan. 5
At 1:05 a.m. a company notified police that its employees were about to repossess a vehicle in Harvard. At 7:59 a.m. a caller reported a disabled car on the Route 2 eastbound offramp, and dispatch informed the state police.
Wednesday, Jan. 6
At 1:18 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident reported that someone had left a John Deere tractor in the driveway, but the caller did not know who the tractor’s owner was. Police called the repair company whose tag was on the tractor and found it belonged to a nearby neighbor but had been misdelivered. At 1:35 p.m. another person called about a mysterious drop-off—this time a trailer left behind Appleworks. Again, no one knew whose it was, but police located the owner and found he planned to pick it up in a while.
Thursday, Jan. 7
At 10:09 a.m. someone noticed an unfamiliar van parked behind his barn on Still River Depot Road. Police investigated, found a young man in the van, and told him to move along. At 2:25 p.m. a caller reported a tree down on Woodside Road, and police informed the Department of Public Works. At 9:53 p.m. a caller reported a car fire on Interstate 495 southbound. Emergency services from Harvard, Bolton, and Boxborough all responded; state police had jurisdiction.
Friday, Jan. 8
At 6:02 a.m. Ayer police asked Harvard officers for assistance to direct traffic away from a fatal crash on Route 2A, which had been closed to traffic. At 11:43 a.m. someone on Myrick Lane called with suspicions about a vehicle in a driveway; police determined it was a delivery truck. At 5:30 p.m. police received a radio report of a collision on Route 2 westbound. State police had jurisdiction, and the Lancaster ambulance crew responded.
Saturday, Jan. 9
At 11:31 a.m. a Houghton Lane resident reported someone had defaced two political signs on his property with spray paint. At 2:09 p.m. a Cruft Lane resident called to say hunters had parked on her land without permission; police found the vehicle belonged to a dog walker who claimed to be unaware the area was private property.
Sunday, Jan. 10
At 4:40 p.m. police received a call from Fruitlands Museum about a car parked there; it was well after closing time and the staff needed to lock the gates. Police located the late walkers, and their car was not locked inside.
Monday, Jan. 11
At 3:07 p.m. someone called with suspicions that people at the Prospect Hill overlook were smoking marijuana, but police found nothing amiss.
