I wish to respond to what Kara Minar was quoted in this paper as saying about me at last week’s Select Board meeting. Her comments clearly illustrate exactly what I was talking about in objecting to “diversity training”: People who disagree with the diversity police are subjected to public shaming and lecturing. She thinks anyone who disagrees can’t see that diversity training is about being nice to people (totally missing the irony here) or imagine other people’s “lived experiences,” but it is she and the rest of the Select Board who are missing the big picture. They don’t understand that they and everyone who succumbs to this supposedly harmless, feel-good program are being used to implement reverse racism toward white people, in order to divide us politically into groups and create resentment between the groups. These training sessions, which are becoming a big business these days, are empowering those who are trying to erase our country’s founding principle of individual (not group) equality.
