Winter season for Bromfield’s varsity squads came to an end this week as the ice hockey team and Alpine skiers competed in their final postseason matches. The boys ice hockey team was eliminated from the 2023 state championship last week in a hard-fought loss to Ashland. And the Bromfield/North Middlesex Alpine ski team finished its season by entering eight qualifying boys and two girls in last week’s all-state Alpine ski championship at Berkshire East Mountain Resort.
Though town fields remain snow-covered, the spring season will be here in the blink of an eye. Bromfield will offer boys and girls lacrosse, outdoor track and field, and tennis, as well as baseball and softball. Registration is open for all eight sports, but closes Friday; tryouts begin March 20.

Boys ice hockey (Littleton/Bromfield/Parker co-op) (9-0, 11-7)
3/1 MIAA Division 4 state championship round of 32 @Ashland, 4-3 loss
Boys Alpine skiing (Bromfield/North Middlesex) (42-2)
3/1 MIAA Alpine ski championship. Noah Bagley placed 10th in the giant slalom. The boys placed 12th among 15 competing teams. St. John’s Prep won the boys championship.
Girls Alpine skiing (Bromfield/North Middlesex) (20-28)
3/1 MIAA Alpine ski championship. Top skier for Bromfield was Libby Bassage, 78th in the slalom and 68th in the giant slalom among the 131 girls who completed both courses. Mohawk Trail Regional won the girls championship.
