Wednesday, Sept. 27
At 6:30 p.m. Engine 2 went to Lovers Lane to clean up a small fluid spill. At 7:48 p.m. Engines 1, 2, 4, and the tower truck responded to a smoke alarm and the reported smell of smoke at a Fairbank Street home; but the alarm was no longer sounding and there was no smoky smell when they arrived.
Thursday, Sept. 28
At 1 p.m. firefighters used their ladder to help the Department of Public Works replace a burned-out lightbulb in the town center traffic light.
Friday, Sept. 29
At 7:46 a.m. Engine 4 went to Lancaster to provide coverage while firefighters there attended the funeral of a former department member.
Saturday, Sept. 30
At 10:12 a.m. and again at 3:37 p.m., the duty officer went to a Bolton Road home to help with a defective smoke detector. At 10:49 p.m. firefighters were called to a one-car crash on Route 2 westbound, where they assisted the ambulance crews and then cleaned up the scene; all four people who had been in the car were taken to hospitals by ambulances from several towns.
Monday, Oct. 2
At 5:04 p.m. a 911 caller reported smelling smoke on Route 2 westbound; firefighters found the smell was coming from a train idling below a bridge.
