Ukulele Club
Ukes of Greater Harvard, a club for ukulele players of all ages and skill levels, will meet Saturday, Sept. 5, from 7:15 to 9 p.m. at the old public library, 7 Fairbank St. A free lesson for beginners will start at 6:30 p.m. Some loaner instruments are available.
Artist’s Reception
Fruitlands Museum will present an exhibit, “The Lure of Trees,” by artist-in-residence Zsuzsanna Szegedi Sept. 6 to Nov. 15, based on her season-long study of Fruitlands’ trees. The museum will host an artist’s reception in the Picture Gallery Saturday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Bluegrass Jam
There will be a live bluegrass jam at the Westward Orchards Farm Store Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. through Columbus Day weekend.
Girl Scout Registration
Harvard Girl Scouts will hold a registration night for all new and returning Scouts Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the basement of the Congregational Church. Registration is open to any girl between the ages of 5 and 18 years. Returning scouts should contact their troop leaders for pre-printed registration papers. Parents should come ready to complete the paperwork with medical information, including doctor’s name and phone number, insurance numbers, and emergency contact information. The registration fee is $12. The Harvard Girl Scouts, a volunteer-run organization, has a need for leaders and assistant leaders at all levels. No experience is necessary; training will be provided. Bromfield Rowing Information Night
There will be an information night for Bromfield Rowing Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Bromfield School library, for parents and Bromfield students in grades 7 to 12 who are interested in signing up for Bromfield Rowing or learning more about the program. Bromfield Rowing Try-It Day

Fiber Loft Anniversary Celebration

Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit
Old Frog Pond Farm will sponsor a free outdoor sculpture exhibit featuring local and regional New England artists Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Old Frog Pond Farm, 38 Eldridge Road. The exhibit will feature works by Alicia Dwyer, Alice Hoffman, Lynn Horsky, Madeleine Lord, Larry Malam, Frances Patnaude, Patrick Pierce, Beth Seigert, Margot Stage, and others, as well as music by Still River, a local bluegrass band. Family Picnic
The Harvard Family Association (HFA) will sponsor a family picnic Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m at Bare Hill Pond. The HFA will provide drinks and dessert to accompany families’ own picnic lunches. There will be an opportunity to meet several local babysitters as they interact with the kids. Apple Harvest Ramble
The Harvard Road Race Association has announced that the 18th running of the 10-mile Apple Harvest Ramble Road Race will take place Sunday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m., starting and ending at Fruitlands Museum. Race day registration will be held at Fruitlands from 9 to 10:55 a.m. Entry fees are $25 before Sept. 14 and $30 on or after Sept. 14. High quality shirts are available for $15. Runners age 65 and older can register for $15.

Harvard Pro Musica Rehearsals
Harvard Pro Musica invites all singers to attend its first open rehearsal of the 2009–2010 season Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. at the Unitarian Church. All voice parts need singers; no audition is required. Rehearsals will continue weekly thereafter on Tuesdays.

Indian Hills Music School will offer two free opportunities to find out more about its musical and instrumental programs. Hiking and Hawks on Mt. Watatic
The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) will sponsor a free guided hike up Mt. Watatic Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. Al Futterman, NRWA land programs director, and Don LeMay of the Ashburnham Conservation Trust will guide hikers through groves of hemlocks, pines, mixed hardwoods, and high-elevation red spruce forest.
