The Bromfield boys varsity basketball team rebounded from a disappointing loss at Clinton early in the week, beating Nashoba Regional High School by a score of 46–32 last Friday. In doing so, they bettered their record to three wins and two losses.
Bromfield came out playing tough defense in the first half and held the visiting team to only nine points while scoring 27 of their own. The Trojans’ tough defense included a block off the backboard by junior Ben Brown toward the end of the first half. The defense gave the team many opportunities to score lay-ups in both halves.
Brown finished with 16 points to lead Bromfield in scoring. He also had eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Junior Josh Lyvers added 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals, while shooting a perfect three-for-three from the foul line.
Senior Tim Smetana had eight points, including a pair of lay-ups off steals. Senior captain Reed Harasimowicz had four points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block for the Trojans, while junior Jon Fricchione had four points, six rebounds, four steals, and a block.

Rounding out the scoring for Bromfield was junior Brian Morgan, two, and junior Salim Al-Homsi, one. Senior Bryan Molinaro, junior Connor Kempton, and sophomore Hugo Al-Homsi also helped the Trojans off the bench.
Coach Scott Hoffman said, “I thought the defense in the first half was just outstanding. We got some nice offensive opportunities from our defense.” Senior captain Ian Rothkopf added that the key to victory was “the way we came out really strong in the first half.”
Hoffman added, “I thought that everyone who dressed did good things and contributed to the win.” The Trojans start to play league games this week against Mid-Wachusett D rivals. Tonight they are in Ayer and next Tuesday will play at Littleton.
