The Murdock Blue Devils overcame the Bromfield Trojans, 69–56, Monday night, Feb. 12, at Bromfield.
Although the score was close at the beginning of the game, Murdock slowly crept ahead and by the second half was too far in front to allow Bromfield to catch up or win.

Eighth-grader Jayden Ndjigue got Bromfield off to a good start by scoring a 2-pointer in the first 10 seconds of the game. Shortly afterward, sophomore Nathan Rogers sank a foul shot, making the score 3–0, Bromfield.
But Murdock didn’t let this lead grow any wider. The team quickly tied the score with a 3-pointer, and it was now clear that this could be anyone’s game. Murdock broke the tie with 7 more points, while Bromfield remained scoreless for the next three minutes.
Bromfield fought back, overcoming this 7-point deficit with help from Ndjigue, Rogers, and senior Jackson Harrigan to tie the score, 10–10. In the 90 seconds remaining in the first quarter, both teams scored 2 points, evening the score once again, 12–12.
In the second quarter, the Blue Devils began to really gain on the Trojans. Early in the quarter, Murdock scored a 3-pointer. Although Bromfield followed with one foul shot, it wasn’t enough to catch Murdock, which added 9 more points before Bromfield scored again.
In the last two minutes of the first half, the Trojans tried to catch up, but the 6 points they scored only brought the score to 28–19, Murdock, at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bromfield boys steadily gained points, but they were mostly from foul shots and a couple of 2-pointers, while Murdock scored more and more 3-pointers, speeding into the lead.
By the end of the third quarter, the score was 49–36, Murdock. It would be hard, but at this point there was still a possibility for the Trojans to win the game.
In the last quarter, the Trojans tried their best to overcome Murdock and they scored 20 points. But Murdock wouldn’t let them get away and also scored 20 points, leaving them to win, 69–56.
Monday’s game left Bromfield with an overall record of six wins and 11 losses. The Trojans’ next and final game was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, against St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School at home.
