Police issued one driver a traffic citation during the week and assisted one motorist with an inadvertently locked vehicle. Three firearms licenses were issued. The ambulance crew responded to nine medical emergencies or accidents and took five people to area hospitals, one with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, Feb. 13
At 3:35 p.m. someone turned in a credit card found at the McCurdy Track. Police called the owner.
Wednesday, Feb. 14
At 4:43 p.m. a person notified police that a car would be parked at the Bromfield School for several days; an officer said it is good practice to notify police when a vehicle will be parked on town property overnight or longer. A West Bare Hill Road resident called 911 at 7:15 p.m. seeking emergency medical help for a person who was choking. The ambulance crew responded; the person refused transport to a hospital. At 7:31 p.m. on Still River Road an officer saw a car with smoke pouring from its engine. The Fire Department was called out and diagnosed an overheating engine. The driver called AAA for assistance.
Thursday, Feb. 15
At 7:30 a.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision on Ayer Road in which one car had rear-ended the other. Two people were injured, one of whom was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Police cited the second driver for following too closely. Later in the morning, at 11:55 a.m., someone reported threats by another person; police spoke to both parties and determined that no physical violence had been threatened. At 2 p.m. a Blanchard Road resident called 911 for medical assistance, but the patient refused transport when the ambulance responded.
Friday, Feb. 16
A Woodside Road resident called 911 with a medical emergency at 8:44 a.m., and the ambulance took one person to the hospital. At 11:20 a.m. a caller reported being blocked in a handicapped-accessible parking space by another vehicle. The offending vehicle was gone when police arrived. At 3:02 p.m. a Bolton Road resident reported seeing someone crawling in the front window of a new house under construction. Police searched the area but found no one. A 911 caller at 6:48 p.m. asked how to reach emergency services in another city to help a family member who was undergoing alcohol withdrawal. Police were able to provide the necessary information.
Saturday, Feb. 17
The ambulance was called at 6:44 p.m. to help a woman who had fallen at Foxglove Apartments on Ayer Road. She was taken to the hospital in Leominster. At 8:03 p.m. police notified the Department of Public Works that snow was making roads hazardous. Police, fire, and ambulance all responded to a one-car crash at the corner of Park Lane and Pinnacle Road at 11:24 p.m. Both occupants of the car refused transport to a hospital, and the car was towed.
Sunday, Feb. 18
A plow truck driver reported hitting another vehicle in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot at 5:41 a.m. At 10:50 a.m. the ambulance responded to a 911 call from Foxglove Apartments on Ayer Road and took a person to the hospital in Leominster. The ambulance was called out again at 6:33 p.m. to take a Warren Avenue resident to the hospital with ALS on board. At 6:58 p.m. a caller reported that their son had struck a deer while driving on Prospect Hill Road; the deer had to be euthanized.
Monday, Feb. 19
A resident called at 9:24 a.m. to report a one-car accident at the intersection of Poor Farm and Ayer roads. No airbags deployed, and the occupant refused transport to a hospital. At 7:32 p.m. a Woodside Road resident reported suspicions about a car that had turned around in front of her house. Police checked the area but found nothing.
