Distinguishing fact from fiction in the debate over whether the town should replace Hildreth Elementary School with a new building has become a challenge. While we do our best to vet and correct gross errors in the letters and opinion pieces we receive, the opinions expressed are ultimately those of the author. Still, we’re continually amazed by how much misinformation is in circulation.
The Press is far from perfect, but we do our best to verify what we print and to quickly correct errors when we learn of them. To provide an anchor in the storm, we have decided to make a number of our past articles on the school project available on our website April 9 through May 8, the date of Town Election. These are pieces that have been fully reviewed and, when necessary, corrected. If further updates are required between now and election day, we’ll make them. We’ll remove information that has been shown to be incorrect. Our goal is to provide our readers with the best obtainable information about the HES project, a common source that debaters can draw upon in formulating their positions.
