Over 353 people participated in the 2018 townwide roadside trash cleanup and garlic mustard pull. As in past years, almost all the road segments were adopted. To date, volunteers have reported collecting 349 bags of trash and garlic mustard.
We want to specifically thank the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts for their continuing participation and to welcome this year the seventh-grade science teachers and students, as well as the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough rowers. Thank you to the Board of Selectmen for the financial support. And of course, thank you to Tim Kilhart and the DPW crew who collect the bags from Harvard’s 69 miles of roads. The cleanup wouldn’t work without DPW’s help.
We continue to be overwhelmed by the support for this activity. Thank you, volunteers; you make this a success. And finally, thank you to all of Harvard’s residents who pick up trash on our roads all year long—you know who you are.
