On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Town Hall welcomed its newest employee––Dawn Dunbar, the new assistant town administrator and human resources director.

Dunbar brings with her an extensive background in municipal government and administration. She began working in local government 15 years ago for the town of Groton, first as an assistant for the Land Use Department, and then later as the executive assistant to the town manager. And for the past three years, Dunbar has been the town clerk for Groton.
Dunbar holds a degree in business administration from Fitchburg State University and has also completed certificate programs focused on the management of town leadership and finances through Suffolk University and the Massachusetts Municipal Association.
“With all those experiences, I thought this step would be the perfect next step in my journey,” Dunbar told the Press.
The role of the assistant town administrator is to support the town administrator on any town projects for which administrative assistance is needed, Dunbar explained. She will also be the human resources director for both the town of Harvard and its schools, which involves handling HR issues and personnel benefits, she said.
Dunbar introduced herself at the Select Board meeting Tuesday night, saying that she feels eager to start her new position. “Day one was a great day, so I’m excited to get going and to meet all of you,” Dunbar said.
