NRWA offers training for water monitoring volunteers
The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) will launch its 27th season of water monitoring. Monitoring will start Saturday, April 20, and continue on each third Saturday of the month through October at approximately 35 sites on rivers and streams throughout the watershed. Water samples taken in the field are delivered to labs in Pepperell or Devens for testing by NRWA staff and lab volunteers.
The NRWA will hold an orientation and training session Wednesday, April 3, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the NRWA Resource Center, 592 Main Street in Groton for those interested in learning about water monitoring and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers may be asked to join an existing team or be a backup when monitors are not available.

Finance Committee has opening
Town Moderator Bill Barton has announced there is an opening on Harvard’s Finance Committee. Anyone interested in serving on that committee may fill out and submit a volunteer form at https://harvard.seamlessdocs.com/f/volunteerform.
Texting-to-911 now available in Massachusetts
When using Text-to-911, your mobile device requires an active telephone number with a carrier and an active texting/data plan.
Type the numbers 911 into the To or Recipient field of a new text message. Enter what is happening and what assistance you may need—police, fire or an ambulance. Include the address and town and any details that may help locate you, such as landmarks, cross streets, nearby business names, apartment number, floor, room or suite numbers. You cannot send emojis, pictures, or videos to 911, and you cannot send a group text.
If Text-to-911 is temporarily unavailable in the area you are sending from, wireless carriers send a bounceback message. The message will advise you to contact emergency services by other means, such as a voice call.
When your message has been received, the 911 professionals will send you messages, ask questions about the emergency, and may provide instructions on things for you to do.
Healing Garden offers programs to the public
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center now offers Qi Gong and yoga classes for men and women. Programs are open to the public for anyone ages 18 and over, whether affected by a cancer diagnosis or not. Workshops will help you relax body and mind and strengthen the mind/body connection. Classes take place at The Healing Garden, a serene facility surrounded by 8 acres of woodlands at 145 Bolton Road. All programs require pre-registration. Rabies clinic at town garage
The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health (NABH) has scheduled a rabies clinic to be held Saturday, April 7, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Harvard Town Garage. Cats must be brought in cages or closed boxes during the last half of the clinic. The charge per immunization is $15. Please contact the NABH at 978-425-6675 with any questions.
