The girls soccer and boys golf teams won their opening matches as the fall high school sports season got underway Sept. 4.
The girls soccer team won a decisive 7-0 victory over West Boylston at home Tuesday on Upper Depot Field. The team’s flexible offense was on full display. Senior Aubrie Reynolds, junior Kendall Hebert, and sophomore Morgan Smith each scored two goals apiece. Senior Ashley Aftosmis scored once, with an assist by Reynolds.
Boys golf has adopted “stroke scoring” this season to align with the scoring used in state tournaments to determine winners. In stroke scoring, the strokes of the top four players of a six-man team are summed. The team with the lowest total wins.
Bromfield is home to six varsity teams this fall: boys and girls soccer, field hockey, boys and girls cross-country, and boys golf. Rowing is offered through Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing, a club program open to students from Harvard, Acton, and Boxborough, via the Bare Hill Rowing Association.
