In support of the pond committee’s judgment

August 27, 2026

As long-time—more than 25 years—users of the pond for swimming, rowing, and kayaking, we strongly support the efforts that have been made to keep our pond healthy over the years. With the 20-plus years of data on Bare Hill Pond, the Bare Hill Pond Watershed Management Committee has developed the knowledge, scientific evidence, and experience to manage our pond. We believe that we should trust their judgment and allow them to continue to do as they see best.

While the low water level resulting from years of drought is disappointing, we need to take the long view in managing this important resource. We should empower the pond committee to continue their important work without interference.

It has been wonderful to continue to use our beautiful pond fully for water activities through this summer.
