In the past week, police made 29 motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and 25 in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on a disabled vehicle, made one mental health evaluation, issued or renewed a firearm permit, and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Jan. 6
At 1:25 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called to say a UPS delivery truck had recently hit their car while it was parked in the driveway; the caller requested that the police file a report of the incident.
Wednesday, Jan. 7
At 2:16 a.m. an officer notified the Department of Public Works that roads in town were becoming icy. At 6:34 a.m. there was a one-car crash on Route 2 westbound; state police were not available, so Harvard police were called to the scene. At 10 a.m. a caller said the intersection of Littleton and Whitney roads was extremely icy; all police units were notified, and the DPW was alerted. At 10:28 a.m. police received a similar call about Stow Road. At 1:16 p.m. a 911 caller told police a man in a onesie was running in and out of traffic on Ayer Road. Both local and state police went to the location, but the man was gone.
Thursday, Jan. 8
At 9:37 a.m. a caller said a dark pickup was cutting in front of other drivers and brake checking on Mass. Ave. Police searched the area, but the driver had left. At 12:55 p.m. a caller reported a four-car crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Friday, Jan. 9
At 8:35 a.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Slough Road. One driver was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign, and both cars had to be towed; one person was injured. At 1:35 p.m. all units were advised a box truck was causing a traffic hazard on Ayer Road, but the truck was gone when an officer arrived. At 2:36 p.m. Harvard police joined with the Diplomatic Security Service and police from Boston, Cambridge, and the state to escort four young people to a Celtics game at TD Garden, courtesy of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. At 3:47 p.m., in a road rage incident that began on Interstate 495 and continued on Stow Road, a 60-year-old Fitchburg man received a summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations; his car was towed. At 4:39 p.m. a 911 caller from Pinnacle Road told police the landlord had locked him out; police advised him to take civil action.
Saturday, Jan. 10
At 12:24 p.m. someone came to the station to file an accident report. At 2:23 p.m. a Pinnacle Road resident called 911, saying the landlord had barged in to demand money; police removed the intruder.
Sunday, Jan. 11
At 12:10 a.m. Harvard police were called to provide backup at a disturbance on Swanson Court in Boxborough, where neighbors reported a man and woman were shouting at each other—reportedly a frequent occurrence.
Monday, Jan. 12
At 7:23 a.m. there was another four-car crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 12:01 p.m. an officer filed a report on a previous disturbance on Pattee Road, in case another incident took place.
