For more than four months, one of the Select Board’s five seats has been empty, a challenge for the remaining four members with their myriad responsibilities and assignments. This coming Wednesday, Oct. 8, voters, in a Special Town Election, will choose a fifth member to join them. The term of the empty seat expires in seven months, in May 2026.
We’re lucky to have two candidates for the office, each with prior experience in state or municipal government, each committed to helping the community navigate the many fiscal, environmental, and social issues the board will face in the coming months.

Then vote! It’s worth repeating that election day is Wednesday, Oct. 8 (not the traditional Tuesday of state and local elections.) Voting will take place in the Hildreth Elementary School gymnasium at 27 Massachusetts Avenue. Polls will open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. The Press will post results as soon as they are available.
